The superintendent of the Lamont Elementary School District shall serve as the educational leader for the school staff in grades transitional kindergarten through eight. As chief administrator, the superintendent shall advise the Board of Trustees in developing district policies and shall be responsible for implementing local, state, and federal administrative policies and regulations.

Lamont is a small, unincorporated community located in the heart of California’s San Joaquin Valley, rooted in a deep agricultural tradition and characterized by strong community ties, resilience, and a shared commitment to supporting students and families. Though modest in size, Lamont’s rich history and close-knit spirit are as enduring as the fields that surround it. The Lamont Elementary School District serves approximately 24 square miles, with the community of Lamont situated in the south-central portion of the district, eight miles southeast of Bakersfield, and surrounded by a predominantly agricultural region that reflects the area’s strong farming heritage.

The District provides a wide range of educational programs designed to meet the needs of its diverse student population. These offerings include, but are not limited to, After-School Sports and Enrichment Programs/Expanded Learning Opportunities, AVID, Band, Battle of the Books, Dual Immersion, Family Success Center that provides resources to our families, the Kern Rural Residency Program, Kinder Institute, Migrant Education, Oral Language Festival, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), the South Kern Math Partnership, STEM, Saturday and Summer School STEAM Academies, Title I programs, and Winter Academy.

Lamont Elementary School District currently serves 2,427 students in grades TK–8 across four school sites. The District employs 160 certificated staff members and 278 classified employees and operates with a general fund budget of $61 million for the 2025–2026 fiscal year.

Education:

• Appropriate Administrative Services credential required.
• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university required.

Experience:

• Minimum of five years elementary teaching experience, and a minimum of three years school site and/or district level administrative experience is required.
• Successful experience in school finance and budget management.
• Successful experience working with a culturally and ethnically diverse community, whose members have diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
• Assistant Superintendent and/or Superintendent experience is desired.
