The Position Pursuant to Virginia Code §53.1-106, the Superintendent is hired by and reports directly to the Jail Board to supervise and manage the ADC and its staff. In accordance with Virginia Code §53.1-109, the Superintendent has the same control and authority over prisoners committed or transferred to this regional jail as sheriffs have in the Commonwealth of Virginia by law over prisoners committed or transferred to local jails.
