The BAYPORT-BLUE POINT SCHOOL DISTRICT, located on the south shore of Long Island in Suffolk County, New York, is seeking a Superintendent of Schools. The 1,700 students in the Bayport-Blue Point School District are enrolled in 3 elementary schools, 1 middle school and 1 high school. The district, which serves a diverse student body, has a long tradition of high-achieving students and has a community that is very supportive of the school district and its students. The district places a strong emphasis on providing programs that meet the needs of all students. In addition to a strong and inclusive academic program, the district has excellent programs in the arts & athletics.
Stakeholders are committed to excellence and want a leader with a student-centered philosophy who will build upon the district’s many accomplishments and successes while respecting the school and community cultures and their student-centered vision.
The Board of Education is seeking a leader who can build upon the district’s many accomplishments while striving to provide opportunities for all students to succeed. Among the many hallmarks of the Bayport-Blue Point School District recently cited by staff, parents, students, and members of the community were:

An experienced teacher, building administrator and instructional leader at the central office level, skilled in short- and long-range planning activities, who is able to move an already-successful district to even higher levels of achievement
An approachable, transparent, and respected leader with superior skills in oral and written communications, and an active listener who will be visible in the district schools and in the community at large
A collaborative administrator, of proven integrity, capable of mentoring and working successfully with a talented staff, an involved board of education, and a supportive school community
A student-focused administrator, with a strong work ethic, proven leadership skills in curriculum and instruction, and who is interested in making a long-term commitment to our district
A proven leader who is knowledgeable in matters of school budgeting and finance, and able to explain them to an interested and involved school community
The Board of Education is offering a regionally-competitive compensation package. New York State certification as a School District Administrator or School District Leader is required for appointment.
