Objective: To provide strategic and operational leadership for all aspects of technology and to ensure technology supports teaching and learning, security, data workflows, and operational efficiency across divisions and departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a multi-year technology strategy that advances the School’s mission and aligns with institutional values.
Partner with senior leadership to prioritize and deliver technology initiatives that drive instructional innovation, data-driven operations, and organizational effectiveness.
Oversee major technology projects, including infrastructure upgrades, cloud and cybersecurity initiatives, and responsible implementation of artificial intelligence to enhance workflows and learning outcomes.
Lead, mentor, and evaluate IT staff, ensuring a service-oriented, collaborative culture and responsive support for faculty, staff, and students.
Direct daily IT operations, including vendor management, procurement, and deployment of information systems and 1:1 device programs.
Manage the IT budget and resources efficiently; provide regular assessments and recommendations for improvement.
Ensure system reliability, cybersecurity, and compliance with industry best practices.
Supervise the integration and maintenance of all academic and operational platforms (SIS, LMS, databases), ensuring data accuracy, interoperability, and actionable reporting.
Collaborate with faculty and division leaders to identify and meet technology needs for curriculum and school operations.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions that benefit the entire school community.
Promote analytics and data-driven decision-making through robust reporting, dashboards, and training.
Manage vendor relations, procurement, installation, and implementation of information systems.
Take an active role in professional activities and attend relevant professional meetings and conferences.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional school environment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, twelve-month position.
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, systems management, educational technology, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
Five to seven years of related experience required. Experience in an independent school is preferred.
Fluency and proficiency working with PC and Macintosh operating systems and Google Apps for Education.
Professional technical certifications from Microsoft, Apple, Cisco, etc., preferred.
Experience with administrative and academic database systems. Experience with Blackbaud preferred.
Current and in-depth knowledge of network architecture, telecommunication, wireless, mobile, and cloud technologies.
Ability to represent the school in the larger community in a positive manner that reflects the values of the school.
Ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, administrators, and parents/guardians.
High degree of cultural competency and demonstrated commitment to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Professional written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous, and complex tasks and projects efficiently and effectively without constant supervision.
