Vineland Public Schools – Cumberland County, New Jersey

The Vineland Public Schools (VPS) is seeking a visionary, student-centered educational leader to serve as Superintendent of Schools. District Overview

Vineland Public Schools serve approximately 10,000 students in a comprehensive PK–12 school system supported by 2,000 dedicated staff members. The district consists of 17 schools, including:

• 1 High School Campus 
• 4 Middle Schools
• 8 Elementary Schools
• 2 Pre-K Centers
• 1 Alternative Academy

The district’s student population reflects the rich diversity of the City of Vineland, with over 80% minority enrollment, including:

• 62.7% Hispanic
• 14% African American
• 18% White

Approximately 40% of students are economically disadvantaged, and the district is funded primarily through state aid (74%). Notably, 23% of students participate in Advanced Placement coursework, demonstrating a strong commitment to academic rigor, and college readiness.  Additionally, Vineland students actively pursue pathways through the Performing Arts and Career and Technical education programs.

Vineland is located in Cumberland County, encompassing 69 square miles, and is home to more than 62,000 residents, with continued growth projected. The community values education, with over 80% of residents 25 years or older hold a high school diploma or higher. Vineland offers a unique blend of suburban and rural living, cultural diversity, and strong community partnerships.

Position Summary

The Superintendent of Schools serves as the chief executive officer of the district and is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and supervision of all educational and operational functions. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Board of Education, staff, families, students, and community stakeholders to advance the district’s mission and strategic goals.

The Board of Education seeks a Superintendent who:

• Demonstrates a strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and student achievement
• Has proven experience leading a diverse school district
• An understanding of Vineland’s unique challenges, city/rural community nuances, and history is critical.  The superintendent should know the community, what each community values, and be able to address the district’s specific needs.  
• Possesses strong fiscal management skills, particularly in state-aid funded systems
• Values transparent communication and community engagement
• Supports high-quality instruction, college and career readiness, and whole-child development
• Builds positive staff and community relations and fosters a culture of collaboration and accountability

Qualifications

• Have or be immediately eligible for New Jersey School Administrator Certificate or a Letter of Eligibility for the same.
• Successful experience as a Superintendent or senior district-level administrator in a culturally diverse community of comparable size and complexity.
• Demonstrated ability to lead instructional improvement and organizational effectiveness in a diverse learning environment.

Salary

Salary in the range of $255,000 subject to actual qualifications, experience and negotiations.
