| Description: Supervises and coordinates activities of electricians engaged in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems, components and fixtures in university owned buildings. Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure. 1. Supervises and coordinates activities of electricians in the installation, repair and maintenance of motor controls and electrical systems, including emergency systems, from high voltage to building distribution. 2. Assigns tasks, performs inspection of work in progress and completed work; implements necessary changes as required. 3. Provides technical direction and guidance to subordinates as required. 4. Develops and maintains work schedules, conducts performance appraisals, recommends salary adjustments, and interviews job applicants. 5. Maintains shop records, monthly reports, daily time sheets, overtime logs and other reports as needed by department. 6. Conducts safety programs for employees. 7. Provides training and development to keep staff and department up to date on new policies and procedures. 8. Maintains proper tools and equipment required in the performance of shop duties. 9. Serves on a special task force during periods of emergency, such as floods, storms, hurricanes, etc. 10. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. THIS JOB REQUIRES A VALID TEXAS DRIVER'S LICENSE. MQ: Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED. Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience. Requires technical certification or licensing directly related to the job, as specified on a job description addendum.
