Depending upon a candidate’s background and experience, the Board is prepared to offer a 3-year contract with a salary up to the present salary cap of $208,250, and a highly competitive benefit package. Prospective candidates should note that benefits for District Superintendent roles have improved through NYS Education Commissioner’s Regulation 124.1, and candidates are encouraged to discuss these changes with Dr. David O’Rourke, our search consultant.
Genesee Valley BOCES serves more than 20,000 students across Genesee, Livingston, Steuben, and Wyoming counties, covering approximately 1,800 square miles. Campus locations are located in Batavia, Byron-Bergen, Dansville, LeRoy, and Mount Morris, where educational programs and services are provided to students and component school districts throughout the region. The organization provides a comprehensive range of programs and services, including career and technical education, special education, alternative education, instructional and technical support, and management services. In response to the evolving needs of its component districts, Genesee Valley BOCES continues to develop new programs and expand services on an annual basis.The District Superintendent is a dual role leader serving as both the chief executive officer of the BOCES and regional representative for the Commissioner of Education. The District Superintendent is responsible for planning, administering, supervising, and evaluating regional educational and support services delivered by BOCES. The District Superintendent also facilitates communication with component districts on topics such as school improvement, district reorganization, implementation of state policy, and school superintendent services, among others. This position is accountable to an 11-member Board of Education, and the New York State Commissioner of Education.
