Williamsburg?James City County Public Schools (WJCC) is seeking an experienced and visionary High School Principal to lead a Jamestown High School. The Principal provides instructional and operational leadership to ensure a safe, inclusive, and academically rigorous environment that supports student achievement, staff growth, and strong family and community partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the school’s instructional program, ensuring alignment with state standards, division priorities, and continuous improvement goals.
Supervise, support, and evaluate assistant principals, teachers, and school-based staff; foster professional learning and high-quality instruction.
Oversee student services, school climate, and discipline to promote student engagement, well-being, and academic success.
Develop, manage, and monitor the school budget and activity funds, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources.
Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and daily operations, including the master schedule and departmentalized instruction.
Maintain effective communication with families, community partners, and division leadership to strengthen collaboration and trust.
Ensure compliance with division policies and state requirements while leading school improvement planning and implementation.
Must possess a Master’s degree; must possess Virginia Postgraduate Professional Certificate in Administration and Supervision.
Knowledge of human growth and development; human relations skills; ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and fellow administrators; working knowledge of curriculum and instruction; financial management and planning skills.
Minimum of three years of effective school administration experience and five years teaching experience, preferably in a public school setting.
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices for student engagement and achievement.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with parents, students and staff.
